Meryem Vani

My mother was a classical singer. When she performed she often brought me along to experience the music and the people. At one venue, I started spinning to the music as my mother was performing an encore and the people around me started throwing money–coins–for good luck. My mother finished her performance, laughed and helped me pick up the coins. I never forgot the feeling–I was four years old and continued with dance classes after that.I had discovered a great pleasure in dance.

Meryem Vani & Troupe Zaghareet is currently available to entertain at parties, corporate events, educational presentations andtheatrical presentations. She also teaches individually or in group seminars with an emphasis on the beneficial aspects of dance movement and the empowerment of the student. Meryem Vani performs various forms of folkloric, cabaret and fusion bellydance. She is proficient in the use of cane, sword, daggers, fans and other props. She will also perform with her ball python by special request!!!!

Emilio Rivas brings extensive knowledge of Mexican folklore and outstanding credentials to give Mosaico a firm foundation to attain a prominent reputation. Mr. Rivas has remarkable recognition as an artistic choreographer beginning with a 10-year tenure with Ballet Folklorico de la Universidad de Guadalajara and by partaking in numerous projects as director and artistic choreographer in various universities, colleges, and cultural venues.

In its nine years of existence, Mosaico Mexican Folk Ensemble has participated in numerous events including El Grito for Mexican Independence Day in Los Angeles; Univision’s Despierta America; Danzantes Unidos Festival in San Diego; “El Rebozo…Una Gema” at the Santa Ana Performing Arts and Events Center; International Fair in Norwalk; Cinco de Mayo festivities at Monterrey Park amongst many other community events and celebrations. By celebrating and promoting this rich cultural mosaic of Mexican folklore, it is the vision of Mosaico Mexican Folk Ensemble to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of our membership, friends, and the community. We value the preservation of this rich, yet fragile art form that has been transplanted from Mexico. We envision that our interpretation of folk dance will gain the widespread respect of our peers and we will be the standard by which others will follow. We seek to maintain our cultural traditions and use this as a bridge to create a lasting bond of understanding with those we touch.
